The refreshed Xtreme Long Drive Team Series brought drafted teams, head-to-head competition and GOLFJOY-powered simulator play to North Carolina during Family Golf Week.
SUNSET BEACH, N.C. — July 17, 2026 — The refreshed Xtreme Long Drive (XLD) Team Series made its 2026 preseason debut at Sea Trail Resort in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, with GOLFJOY serving as presenting sponsor and providing the software powering the indoor competition.
Held inside the Sea Trail Convention Center during the 29th annual Family Golf Week, the event brought together two drafted teams — Send It Society and Shark Attack Golf — for a fast-paced, head-to-head long drive matchup.
Led by captains Hank Parks and Jace Norman, the teams competed in a format built around shared results rather than traditional individual long drive divisions. Send It Society narrowly secured the victory.
Beyond the result, the Sea Trail event provided an early look at how XLD is developing long drive into a faster, team-oriented competition designed for indoor venues, spectators and digital audiences.
Long Drive Takes on a Team Format
XLD operates within the Ultimate Long Drive ecosystem but introduces a distinct competitive structure. Athletes enter a draft pool, captains build their teams, and individual performances contribute to the team result.
The format adds recognizable team identities, direct matchups, shared pressure and the potential for ongoing rivalries to a sport traditionally centered on individual distance.
It also creates a more compact competition format that can work inside simulator facilities and other indoor environments while translating naturally to livestreaming, social media and digital content.
GOLFJOY Technology Inside the Competition
For GOLFJOY, the XLD Team Series represents an extension of its relationship with Ultimate Long Drive from performance technology into the competitive experience itself.
GOLFJOY became the Official Launch Monitor and Simulator Partner of Ultimate Long Drive in 2025. At Sea Trail, GOLFJOY software supported the XLD competition, helping bring elite long drive into an indoor simulator environment.
Long drive presents an especially demanding environment for golf technology, with extreme ball speeds and high-intensity swings placing performance measurement at the center of competition.
The XLD format shows how simulator technology can move beyond practice and recreational play to become part of the infrastructure behind a live competitive format.
Expanding Where Long Drive Can Be Played
Bringing long drive indoors opens new possibilities for where and how the sport can be presented.
A simulator-powered format can bring athletes and spectators into convention centers, golf facilities and other destinations that would not typically host a traditional outdoor long drive competition.
The Sea Trail event marked the first time XLD had been included in Family Golf Week and formed part of the series’ 2026 rollout ahead of the planned 2026–27 Winter Series.
As presenting sponsor, GOLFJOY will continue supporting XLD as the series explores how team competition, golf technology and digital media can bring a different long drive experience to athletes and fans.
